Do I need a mattress pad? 2016-10-24T22:08:05+00:00

Using a mattress pad is more of a personal choice. You don’t need one to get a great night’s sleep on a Luxi, but if you want to keep your Luxi sleep surface clean from any accidents, it doesn’t hurt either.

Is LUXI easy to set up? 2016-07-31T09:43:24+00:00

Why would we want to make choosing a mattress so simple by being a 3 in 1 and then make it difficult for you the assemble. The LUXI mattress will arrive at your door set in the medium configuration. You just have to open the box and it will be ready to sleep in. If you choose to make it softer or firmer you simply unzip the cover and flip the element.

If you do have any questions in setting up your LUXI mattress contact us, that’s what we are here for.

Do I need a box spring or platform? 2016-10-24T22:08:06+00:00

With platform beds becoming more and more popular and some opting for a more lofty aesthetic we are noticing that some of our customers are choosing to put the LUXI mattress directly on the platform, but if you prefer your bed to be higher off the ground or have a basic frame then you would probably choose to go with a box spring in addition to the mattress.

Adjustable beds are also a popular choice and they too work well with the Luxi.

Is the cover washable? 2016-07-31T09:40:51+00:00

Does the mattress give off an odor? CertiPUR-US? 2016-06-20T14:34:34+00:00

All foams are *CertiPur certified and have an open cell structure that insures no long term or lingering problems from off gassing.
Being “CertiPure certified” however, is the highest standard for the sustainability of the raw materials used in mattress construction and means:
Made without ozone depleters
Made without PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP (“Tris”) flame retardants
Made without mercury, lead and other heavy metals
Made without formaldehyde
Made without phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission
Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million)

The CertiPUR-US® program is a voluntary testing, analysis and certification program for flexible polyurethane foam used as a cushioning material in home furnishings such as adult mattresses, crib mattresses, upholstered furniture and some accessory comfort products. Certified flexible polyurethane foams have been independently laboratory tested and certified to be:

  • Made without ozone depleters
  • Made without PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP (“Tris”) flame retardants
  • Made without mercury, lead and other heavy metals
  • Made without formaldehyde
  • Made without phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission
  • Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million)
Is Luxi Non-toxic? Natural? Organic? Hypoallergenic? 2016-10-24T22:08:06+00:00

LUXI Contains no PBDEs or formaldehyde.

The foams are (true for all mattress foams) petrochemical based. However, our foams are also made from formulations (the most modern specialty pour formulations from companies such as DOW, Mobay and Chargile) that contain some agricultural components. This essentially replaces some of the petroleum based materials with vegetable oils. These “plant based formulations” are used in all layers of the construction. Technically speaking, all of the foams are polyurethane chemistry based but there is no PVC. The Latex layer is a blend of polyurethane and natural Latex that is derived from the sap of a tree. (P) All LUXI raw materials are from a class of raw materials (the conventional foam, memory foam and Latex) that is state of the art in terms of being “agriculturally considerate”. There are no other materials available anywhere that could be substituted into the build of the LUXI mattress that would be considered more “Plant Based”. However, that does not make the material edible and we have no knowledge about casein proteins being present. The suggestion is that someone along the line has confused the truth about having a part of the chemistry being “Plant Based” and that that would have any other benefit (nutritionally) than displacing some of the petro-based material. (P) Bottom line. All raw materials involved in the construction of a LUXI Mattress have been chosen to be from the most current material innovations and (both the foam and Latex components) are essentially inert and odor free.

SBT Durability, Support and Buckling 2016-06-20T14:29:53+00:00

PODS DURABILITY: This foam is made of a very durable foam and through our testing we have had no problems. There is both horizontal and lateral movement in the pods. This method of using pods and breaking up the surface is actually more durable than just a block of foam. It creates a soft feel or sensation and when weight is applied the bottom of the T shape actually becomes stronger and therefore prevents hammocking in the mattress. This is where the real engineering & design work come into play.

BUCKLING: The buckling columns (or the Pods) act as coils. So you get the same benefit as a spring but you just get better technology with the SBT for support and body alignment

EDGE SUPPORT: The SBT element ends up delivering a degree of edge support unlike most memory foam mattresses. When you sit on the edge of the Luxi the buckling column collapses under your seat, away from the edge about four inches, so you sink back instead of forward. Care has also been taken to insure that no matter what the mattress size, that the SBT layer always has a row of the supportive pedestals right at the edge of the mattress, whether it’s a twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, or California king. They have done a good job with the computer modeling to get each size just right at the edge.

How is the foam cooling? 2016-06-20T14:30:08+00:00

Memory foam technology has certainly advanced and has generally become cooler and in order to remain cool you need a mattress that extracts heat from the side of the mattress(not the top).

The LUXI has core shapes that operate independently for great pressure relief, but also function more like a series of channels running horizontally both from side to side and from head to toe, so that when the mattress is being compressed (from someone lying on it) the movement of air is laterally displaced out the sides.

The LUXI will most likely be slightly cooler due to the amount of free air flow through the sides of the mattress.

What is “Support Balancing Technology”? 2016-10-24T22:08:06+00:00

Support Balancing Technology is a fabricated enhanced stability viscos foam layer that offers cushioning and support simultaneously for the higher pressure body regions, such as hips, shoulders, etc., so that the body is in alignment during sleep. In particular this layer of pedestal-shaped foam offers support, softness control, airflow and minimal motion transfer like no other foam on the market. While it is not a memory foam layer in the usual consumer sense, it is derived from that chemistry and presents as a faster responding, more stable and durable viscos elastic foam.

This is a patent pending technology

What do you mean “Flip-It” and Split-It” 2016-10-24T22:08:06+00:00

This is just our way of saying LUXI is adjustable in more ways than one.

“Flip-It” refers to soft, medium or firm

Being an adjustable mattress refers to LUXI, being one mattress that has 3 different “feels”. Some call it soft, medium or firm. There’s a zipper on the outside of the mattress that let’s you unzip and access the foam layers on the inside. You can flip these foam layers to create different “feels”.

“Split-It” refers to each side being individualized

Not only can you change the “feel” but for mattress sizes queen and bigger the mattress foam elements are cut down the middle so the left and right side can be setup for 2 sleepers with different sleep preferences. For example “his” side can be firm, while “her” side can be made soft.
